Choose a starting point
Nearer is an invitation-only work tracker. Projects are private; this documentation is public. Reading a guide or viewing its screenshots does not grant access to its example project.
- First visit: Sign in and find your work, then create and update tickets.
- Plan delivery: Use boards and sprints, choose estimates and reports, and manage a release.
- Find and summarize work: Build queries and configure dashboards.
- Design a process: Start with workflow stages and rules, then simulation and publication.
- Use AI: Begin with reviewed AI assistance. Managers can continue to automation, templates and worked examples.
- Administer the workspace: Project and site administration, integrations and import and recovery.
The Harbor example
The guides use a fictional team building the Harbor customer portal in the private SAMPLE project. A points-based Scrum board tracks the launch, an hours-based Kanban board tracks support, and a release records readiness without changing ticket statuses.
Earlier SAMPLE release snapshots retain their original names as historical baselines; scenario preparation does not rewrite a recorded launch.
The example includes unfinished and completed tickets, dependencies, review requests, release notes and reusable delivery templates. Screenshots show the actual application; captions identify production captures and simulations. Account and integration details are excluded.
Understand access and saving
Administrators manage the site. Project managers configure project processes. Members work on tickets; viewers read accessible project content. Some actions also require ownership, a workflow role, or a specific review assignment. See the role guide.
Most editors keep changes as a draft until Save, Comment, Apply or a named confirmation action. A stale version means someone or something changed the saved record. Keep your draft, compare the current content, and retry deliberately rather than overwriting another edit.
Documentation boundaries
These guides describe the current development release, including configuration-dependent features. AI, Gmail and GitHub can be unavailable until an administrator configures them. No guide enables a paid service, publishes private work, or creates a deployment on your behalf.
Deployment and engineering/API reference remain in the repository. For operator and data-handling information, read the privacy policy and terms.
